John Warren Bundy

   John Warren Bundy, resident of Bethany Ok., died Friday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2015 in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 15, 1928 in Muncie, Indiana, to Gertrude Eleanor (Fisher) and Clinton Oscar Bundy. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene College with a degree in Business Administration in 1950. Extra-curricular activities were centered around a brow- eyed Texan named Margretta Sanders. They were married in Port Arthur, Tx in March of 1953. Upon graduation from Olivet, he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service they returned to Port Arthur, Tx, where he purchased and further developed an Egg and Poultry Distribution center in South East Texas, “Bundy Egg and Poultry”. He subsequently sold the business and became a Certified Life Underwriter, beginning his lifelong career with Bundy & Associates as an independent life insurance agent. Emerging from retirement, he became the office manager for his son Tom’s Medical practice in Lake Jackson, Tx. They moved to Bethany in1994 to enjoy their retirement and two grandchildren Maggie and McCall. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the center of his life. He loved the Church of the Nazarene and served her well. He and Margretta were the lay music ministers at Port Arthur First Church of the Nazarene and served as board member for 40 years. He was a member of the Houston District Advisory Board for several decades. He served on the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene for four years in the mid 1960’s, and served on the Southern Nazarene University Board of Trustees for over 30 years. He had a lifelong pursuit of studying and teaching the prophetic books of the Bible. His last words to his family were “Jesus is coming very soon.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Beatrice Thomas, and his son, Dr. Thomas Clinton Bundy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margretta (Sanders) Bundy, son Dr. J. McCall Bundy and wife Dr. Debra Riggs Bundy, daughter Margaret Ann (Bundy) Adams and husband Tim Adams, daughter-in-law Holly Bundy Hart, granddaughters Maggie Bundy Hart Welliver and husband Seth, and McCall (Adams) Calloway and husband Carson, and three great-grandchildren Isaac, Asher and Eden Welliver.
Viewing will be Monday 12-9pm and Tuesday 8am-9pm with family present Tues. from 6-8pm. Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 2:00pm at Bethany First Nazarene Church with interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery.
