Fire heavily damages 8th Street vacant home

A vacant home in Port Arthur went up in flames leaving an adjacent home with radiant heat damage on Wednesday.
Several 911 calls were made about the fire around 3:24 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Eighth Street, according to information from the police scanner.
When firefighters responded, flames and smoke was visible and the fire was fully involved in the two-story wood frame home.
Port Arthur Fire Battalion Chief Jay Fountain said the home was vacant and red-tagged and did not have utilities connected.
PAFD responded with three engines and a ladder truck.
The home was heavily damaged and the vinyl siding on an adjacent home had heat damage.
No injuries were reported and no one is believed to have been inside at the time of the fire.
An arson investigator will investigate the incident.
