The body of a woman who was reported missing from Nederland was recovered at the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge Wednesday night.

The woman is identified as Cherie Kay Trahan, 36.

Port Arthur police responded to the bridge at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday in reference to the Texas Department of Public Safety finding the body of a female. Trahan had been reported missing from Nederland earlier that day, according to a press release from PAPD.

The woman was found in the marsh area under the bridge.

Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen ordered an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
