Turner-Lawson

Rachel Turner became the bride of Mark Lawson, Jr. Saturday, November 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Clary in Orange, Texas. The double ring ceremony, was held outdoors and was officiated by Rev. Sally Anderson.

The bride is the daughter of Randy Turner of Groves and Candace Clary of Orange. The bridegroom is the son of Mark and Debra Lawson, Sr. of Groves.

Escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a striking gown of ivory silk satin with a gold and crystal brooch accenting the strapless sweetheart neckline and pleated bodice. The fully bustled skirt featured a chapel-length train.

Attending the bride as Matron-of-Honor was Ashley Webb. Bridesmaids were Sheri Bryant, Courtney Layton and Lindsay Mathias, friends of the bride. Junior Bridesmaids included Rachel’s step-sisters, Taylor Davis, Alexia Clary, and Madison Clary. Daylin Lawson served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Brian Beaumont and Kurt Riley.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from The University of Texas at Austin. She teaches fourth grade at Hamshire-Fannett Intermediate School. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and is employed by Construction and Maintenance Service Company. Following their honeymoon to Nassau in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Port Neches.



Joseph-Rodgers

Evette Joseph became the bride of Nablaka Rodgers Saturday, September 2, 2006 at The Department Club.

The Bride is the daughter of Eddie and Elinor Joseph. The Groom is the son of Mrs. Carolyn Rodgers and the late James Rodgers.

Attending the couple were Matron of Honor, Vickie McIntyre; Maid of Honor, Dr. Shannon Moore; Bridesmaids, Tonya Armstead and Michelle Snodgrass. Nicole Jones was the Bride’s Attendant. Earl Hines served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Avery McGlory, Clifford Wise, and E. Nelson. Lyrik Jones was the flower girl and her little brother, Damonie Rodgers, served as the ring bearer. Jaylon and Jamal McIntyre assisted the Bride with her entrance.

The Bride was escorted in by her father, Eddie Joseph and son, Jeffery Joseph, II, Atarre McGlory, Andreana Hall, Evan Gauthia, Deja Jones and Craig Guidry served as Ushers.

Serving in the House Party were Ingrid Holmes, Katherine Simon, Andreana Hall, Bernice Harmon, Kiante Rodgers, Sharon Clark, Doris Jones, Lorena Jerry, Barbara Monroe, and Delores McKenzie.

After a holiday honeymoon to Kemah, TX, the couple made their home in Port Arthur.

Carolyn & Kenneth Walker

Celebrate50th Anniversary

Carolyn and Kenneth Walker of Port Arthur celebrated their 50th Anniversary on November 25 with a Mass at St. James Catholic Church and a Dinner Party at Esther’s Restaurant with their family.

Carolyn Vera and Kenneth Walker were married on November 9, 1956 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Kenneth retired from Chevron in 1992 with 34 years of service.

Their children are Bradley & Kim Walker, Keith & Cindy Walker, Kirk & Lorrie Walker, Belinda & Greg Roccaforte, Brett & Wendi Walker, and Troy & Lisa Walker. There grandchildren are Alec, Alyse, Mackenzie, Morgan, Madison, Marek, Megan, Corey, Sarah, Thomas, Zachary, Jennifer & Eric and one great grandson, Houston.



The Rev. and Mrs. Kelley Black

The Rev. Kelley and Jannie Black celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 11, with a family dinner at Papadeaux’s Restaurant, in Beaumont . The event was hosted by their children and grandchildren The Rev. Kelley and Jannie were married on Nov. 10, 1956, in Clarksville, Texas. The Rev. Black served 39 years in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He retired while serving as the pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Port Arthur. Although Mrs. Black was homemaker and served with her husband in many churches.

Their children are: Valarie Black and Dr. LaWanda Finney. The couple also has four grandchildren.
