Eddie and Audrey Monroe Jr. of Port Arthur celebrated their 50th anniversary with a renewal of vows before family and friends on January 20, 2007, at the Learning Center, Port Arthur. The Rev. Ransom Howard officiated the ceremony which was followed by dinner and program. The event was hosted by their children.
Audrey Manuel and Eddie Monroe Jr. were married on January 19, 1957, by the Justice of the Peace in Beaumont, Texas. Eddie retired from Gulf Oil Corporation with 37 years of service and Audrey is a home maker. Both are members of the Rock Island Baptist Church were they serve as Deacon and Deaconess as well as members of organizations as the Male Chorus and the Usher Board.
Their children are: Brenda Monroe Shillow of Port Arthur, Donna Monroe Green of Houston, Lola Monroe of Missouri City and Karl Monroe of Port Arthur. The couple also has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
