GROVES — Kenny Blanda said he asked why businesses should open in Groves, and he got solid answers from city and chamber officials.
Blanda, new Groves Chamber of Commerce president, said the “great city” of Groves stands tall after setbacks such as hurricanes and is a draw for schooling, housing and other assets.
Blanda, executive director of Magnolia Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, spoke at Tuesday’s Groves Chamber of Commerce breakfast at the Courtyard Cafe.
Chamber representatives presented Gene Venable with the Carl Beaumont Award.
The 2010 Groves Chamber of Commerce officers are:
• Kenny Blanda, president
• Doug Romero, first vice president
• Kent Manuel, second vice president
• Christa Hollier, treasurer
• Brad Corley, past president.
