PORT ARTHUR —
A woman and her child were the victims of an early morning burglary Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Port Arthur police received a call from the women at approximately 2:59 a.m. stating that she, along with her child, were hiding in a room because someone had broken into their home in the 3600 block of Third Avenue.
As officers approached the victim stated the suspect left the home and that there was a large amount of blood in the areas the intruder had been.
Police located the suspect and took him into custody as he attempted to flee in a nearby vehicle. He was bleeding profusely from injuries received while entering through a broken window in the home. He was identified as a juvenile male and brought to a local hospital for treatment. PAPD’s Crime Scene Unit collected evidence from the scene as well as photographs. Charges for burglary will be pursued within the state’s juvenile justice system.
