BEAUMONT —
Detectives with Beaumont Police Department are investigating the Saturday morning robbery of a bank.
Patrol Division officers responded to the Wells Fargo Bank, 595 I-10 North, at 9:31 a.m. Saturday, April 21, in reference to a reported robbery that had just occurred.
Bank employees told officers that a man entered the bank with a white plastic bag and handed the teller a note, according to a press release from BPD. The note indicated that he had a gun and demanded money. The teller remained calm, complied, and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen running north from the front entrance of the bank.
Tellers described the suspect as a white male, about 5-foot 6-inches to 5-foot 10-inches, medium build with brown close cut hair, a mustache, and he was unshaven.
He was wearing a camo baseball cap, a royal blue hoodie zipped up over a white T-shirt, and blue denim jeans. He did not display a gun but he kept his hand inside the hoodie pocket as if to indicate that he was holding a weapon.
The employees, though shaken by this incident, were not physically injured.
The Detective Division, K-9 Unit, and Patrol Officers conducted the initial investigation and they recovered evidence at the scene. The bank’s surveillance system did record good images of the suspect. Detectives took statements from witnesses who provided very detailed information.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
