PA starting over in city manager search

Its back to the drawing board in Port Arthur, where the city’s search for a new manager is starting over from scratch.

On Tuesday, City Council at their regular meeting opted to cancel any scheduled interviews among the three candidates still in the running for the job.

“We have a pool of good applicants, we just wanted to expand what we have,” Mayor Deloris “Bobbie” Prince, said after the meeting.

In addition to starting over, City Council plans to schedule a workshop next week to adopt specific procedures relating to the search and candidate criteria.

At this time, The Mercer Group, the management firm hired to lead the search for a new city manager, will continue in that role.
