Valero sues Jefferson County Appraisal District

BEAUMONT — Valero Energy Corp. and The Premcor Pipeline Co. are suing the Jefferson County Appraisal District, claiming the estimated values of its property exceed market value.

In a petition filed by the companies, Valero and Premcor said the appraised value of their properties “is excessive and unlawful” and “exceeds the median appraised value of a reasonable number of comparable properties.”

This case marks the sixth lawsuit Valero has filed against the appraisal office in the last seven years. The first five cases, starting in 2006, were bundled into a $23.9 million settlement won by the energy company.
