BC math team sweels regionals


The Bridge City High School math team attended the UIL 3A Regional Academic Meet in Brenham on Saturday and won first in all three math events, a clean sweep.

The team will advance to the UIL State Academic Meet to be held on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin on May 5 and 6. This will make the 16th consecutive appearance of Bridge City?s math team at the UIL State Meet.

The number sense team won gold medals. Individually Andrew Havens was first, Randy Dupuis was fourth, Nick Robertson was sixth, and Leah Moss was ninth. Andrew posted the highest number sense score in the state while the team posted the second highest team score.

The calculator team won gold medals. The team had the highest calculator team score posted in the state. Individually, Nick Robertson was first, Andrew Havens was third, Leah Moss was fifth. Randy Dupuis was eighth. Nick posted the highest individual calculator score in the state.

Also winning gold medals was the general math team. Individually, Andrew Havens was first. Nick Robertson was second. Randy Dupuis was seventh. Leah Moss was tenth. The team posted the second highest math score in the state only four points out of first place.
