Gale Laure, a Golden Triangle native, is back in town to tout her newly published book, “Evolution of a Sad Woman.”
The murder-mystery author is meeting with select friends for a book launch, celebrating the former “e-book” turned novel. The Beaumont Art League is sponsoring the event.
Laure keeps an air of mystery about herself; she admits to being a Golden Triangle native but won’t pin down just which town is her former home.
“Remember, I write mystery,” she said with a laugh, indicating she plans to keep some parts of her life cloaked.
The road from e-book to paperback was long.
“There was a lot of illness in my family at one time and I was about to give up on having the book published. Then my husband remembered a publisher ... and it went from there,” she said.
Now the book is being sold around the world.
“I’m ecstatic, so excited,” she said. “This is a lifelong dream of mine. It took a long time to get to this point.”
“Evolution of a Sad Woman” is about a murdered woman named Kizzy and the five men, all strangers, who are drawn together by the love of Kizzy.
“When she is murdered, they pull their past into their present, their present explodes and their future is filled with surprise and changed forever” according to the book jacket information.
Laure isn’t through writing though. She has a sequel in the works, she said.
