Hurricane Rita on Sept. 24, 2005, forever changed the view of parishioners at the Thomas Boulevard Church of Christ regarding the fury of such storms. Although spared the absolute devastation suffered by some residents, merchants and churches, the building suffered significant roof, structural, and interior damage.
Church leaders and members were faced with the daunting task of re-building their church home. Ironically, the church’s scriptural theme for the 2005 year was “Rebuilding Our Walls” based in the book of Nehemiah.
Fast forward to Jan. 28 the Thomas Boulevard Church of Christ will host a program of praise and thanksgiving titled “The Wall Rebuilt.”
This program celebrates the substantial completion of Hurricane Rita restoration and renovation activities. Broken windows, wet carpet, compromised roofing and damaged walls have been repaired and other damages have been addressed.
The program will follow morning worship service at approximately 11:45 a.m. with a fellowship dinner immediately following the event. For more information, call the church at 982-6108.
