PORT ARTHUR —
Pink ribbons are everywhere in support of October as breast cancer awareness month. Some are specially designed to benefit a cause, others are simply pink. Here’s a few goodies sure to lift spirits:
Beautyblender
Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Diana Ross are on the Beautyblender band wagon. If you get on in October, the company will put 10 percent of profits to the Cancer Support Community. Rea Ann Silva, a Hollywood beauty expert, created this edgeless, teardrop sponge to blend makeup flawlessly. I do find that the elliptically-shaped, pink pearl is the best blender I’ve ever used. It comes with cleaner, too.
In October 100 percent of profits from Antica Farmacista Home Ambiance Fragrance in Peona Romantico goes to the Cancer Support Community for breast cancer research. Lemon and lime mix with peony, rose and gardenia for a romantic, pink-tinted fragrance that climbs up reed sticks to perfume your relaxation area. There’s a pink ribbon charm on the special edition. It’s a beauty of a deal.
Tennis lips
Serena Williams, whom I just learned shares a birthday with my husband, has a Pink Lemonade Lip Balmer is paraben free and tastes great as it locks in moisture. I take it on long walks. Buy it in October and $1 will go to the Young Survival Coalition. Look for it at CVS.
Bra stuff
Bra Barrette invites women to “Turn Style Around” with swirly clips that cinch your back bra straps together for lift. I’ve seen several similar products designed for function. This S of plastic has style. A Try-It Pack in three sizes is available. One with an adorable pink floral charm has enabled me to give new life to a tank top that has seen better days.
TeleBrands’ BareLifts is part of the sticky movement offering an instant lift with “skin-friendly Latex-free doo dads that remind me of those strips that open your nasal passages.
Braza offers more garment tricks than you may have imagined existed. A Happy Strap lets the wearer “say good-bye to wandering straps, “the original adhesive bra” is for when “a conventional bra just won’t do” and Upsie Daisie is more sticky stuff to hold up strapless fashions With Flash Tape, Bra Back Extenders and Clothing Shields in your closet arsenal, a woman will no-doubt decide she needs to get out more. I think all these products could boost the nation’s economy as well as a singular bustline.
New favorite socks
I never want my pink, fuzzy Aloe Socks to touch the ground. I plan to put them on at bedtime to moisturize my feet all night with an infusion of natural aloe vera and vitamin E. I thank Earth Therapeutics, a company donating a portion of sales from the new two-pack to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I spent the first night of fall toasty and stylish. This is one of those “you’re worth it” products that can help someone else, too.
Think Pink, Go Green and Stay Cool
If you’re in one of the walks to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, take Armpocket with you. Ten percent of proceeds from pink Armpockets will go to The Breast Cancer Fund. I’m thrilled to have this bright, pink pocket holding my keys, ID, phone, etc. You can work your aps through the case and your ear buds can fit through an opening on top. This is the goods for serious walkers (at 21 miles in one week, I can say I am serious). Look for eco-friendly bamboo fabric, moisture-wicking sports-performance mesh and a patented memory foam "V - Strap" with Velcro closure to ensure a snug fit and 30 cubic inches of additional pocket space for cash, tissues, etc.
