Accusations fly over PA city manager search

PORT ARTHUR —

Dissatisfaction with what was called a tainted city manager search, the city’s mayor accused of overreaching her duties, and a councilman charged with orchestrating city business via telephone, were among allegations leveled at a press conference Friday.

Four of the city’s eight Councilmembers, John Beard, District 5 city councilman; Harold Doucet, mayor pro tem; Raymond Scott Jr., District 1; and Kerry “Twin” Thomas, Position 8, led a two-hour press conference at City Hall.

Beard started with allegations that the city manager search had gone awry at the hands of Mayor Deloris “Bobbie” Prince and District 6 Councilman Robert E. Williamson. Prince maintains the City Council was involved in the manager process, even determining what the applicant requirements would be, so why place blame on others.
