Friends of Soccer to raise money with link sale

PORT NECHES — PN-G Friends of Soccer will sponsor a scholarship link sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the Port Neches Market Basket parking lot. The cost will be $2 for a link and drink.  Tickets may be purchased early from any PN-G FOS member or by calling Bobbi at 962-2773 to locate a member near you.  Walk-ups are welcome. Proceeds benefit soccer scholarships for all eligible senior PN-G soccer players

Rotary Club to host shrimp dinner

GROVES — The Groves Rotary Club will host its annual Shrimp Dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Groves Middle School Cafeteria The tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any Groves Rotarian. The funds will go toward a variety of Rotary sponsored events including a scholarship, CavOILcade sponsorship as well as the student exchange program with Guildford England.

Methodist church to host link sales

GROVES — The First United Methodist Church of Port Arthur will raise money for church projects through link sales on Saturday, Sept. 23. Links, priced at $1.50, and canned soft drinks for 50 cents, will be sold at Bruce’s Market Basket on 39th Street and Impact Plumbing at 3944 Main Ave. For more information call the church office at 985-5581 or Jane Covington at 962-4508.

Girl Scouts rally for new girls

Mid-County girls, age 5 through high school, are invited to join Girl Scouts at a registration rally. At the rally, girls and their parents will have an opportunity to register for new troops and learn about the Girl Scout program. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at First Christian Church located at 5856 Ninth Ave., Port Arthur. The registration fee for the year is $10.

Girl Scouts strive to help girls develop their full individual potential, relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect and develop values through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.

Texas Pecan Festival Megapasses on sale

GROVES — The Texas Pecan Festival Carnival Megapasses will be sold from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Courtyard, 4321 Lincoln Ave.

The cost is $35 per Megapass and the person for which the pass is purchased must be present to have photo I.D. taken.

The Texas Pecan Festival is Sept. 21-24 at Lion’s park.

Tickets for Pecan Festival Pageant on sale

The annual Texas Pecan Festival Scholarship Pageant will be Saturday. Tickets are on sale for $8 at the Groves Chamber or can be purchased the night of the pageant at the door for $10. The Chamber also has a sign up for the Parade that will be Saturday, Sept. 23.
