Cities, school announce post Gustav schedules



Port Arthur

Port Arthur City Manager Steve Fitzgibbons said city employees should return to work at their normal time Wednesday morning.

Trash pick-up is on a two-day delay with the following schedule: Monday on Wednesday, Tuesday on Thursday, Wednesday on Friday, Thursday on Saturday.

The Port Arthur Transit System will not be running regular routes on Wednesday, Sept. 3 due to entry of evacuees. Para-transit services will be available for only medical and emergency services.

Port Arthur Transit expects full transit services to resume Thursday, Sept. 4.



Port Neches

City of Port Neches employees in all departments will return to normal work hours Wednesday, Sept. 3. Employees are urged to contact their immediate supervisor if they cannot return to work.

Trash and garbage pickup will be on regular schedule starting Wednesday.

Citizens having any questions related to operations in the City of Port Neches are asked to call the Fire Department at 722-5885 or City Hall at 727-2182.



Nederland

In Nederland, with the exception of garbage and trash services, the city resumed normal operations Tuesday Sept. 2. Garbage and trash pickup is scheduled to resume Wednesday with residential garbage pickup delayed for two days.



Groves

All departments of the city of Groves will report to work Wednesday to return to normal operations.

The Public Works department will begin normal operations on Wednesday. Contact the Public Works department at (409) 960-5700 to obtain a schedule of trash and garbage pickup.

Residents with questions related to operations in the city of Groves should call (409) 962-4471 and calls for services provided by Public Works can call (409) 960-5700.



Lamar State-PA

Following Gustav evacuation, Lamar State College-Port Arthur and its associated offices will re-open Wednesday, Sept. 3. Classes will also resume Wednesday. Information about the college will be available through area radio and television stations and on the main telephone line at the college, (409) 983-4921 or (800) 477-5872. Information also will be available on the college website: www.lamarpa.edu.



PAISD

Port Arthur Independent School District’s Dr. Mark Porterie stated that schools will resume Thursday, Sept. 4.



PN-GISD

Port Neches/Groves Independent School District's Dr. Randall stated schools will resume Thursday, Sept. 4. Information about the school district can be found on it's website www.pngisd.org.



NISD

The Nederland Independent School District will resume normal operations Thursday, Sept. 4. All personnel are requested to report at their regular time Thursday. Buses will run as scheduled and classes will start at the usual times. For any additional information please log on to the district web site, www.nederland.k12.tx.us.



Beaumont

The City of Beaumont will open for regular business Wednesday, Sept. 3. Residents can call (409)980-8311 or dial 311 for updated messages.

Beaumont Municipal Transit will be working to get evacuated citizens back home beginning Wednesday morning. Normal Transit service will resume when the operation is complete.

Beaumont Solid Waste will be two days behind when operations resume.



Jefferson County

All Jefferson County employees are to return to work at their regularly scheduled hours on Thursday. If employees need further information, they should contact their supervisors.
