DeCuir supported for NISD

NEDERLAND — Last year we had an excellent candidate running for Nederland School Board who was only 75 votes away from being elected. Kay DeCuir is running again and we need the voters to come out in full force to elect someone who is fresh, new and current on educational issues and finance.

We need someone who will ensure the safety and health of all our children and staff members. We need someone who will help to keep the district from spending funds that are not in the budget and who will protect our current financial reserve. Kay DeCuir has more than 27 years of education experience and is currently the CEO of the Shorkey Center in Beaumont, a school for special needs children. Kay is proactive in decision making, creative in coming up with ideas on how to make a budget work when there is a funding crisis and is not afraid to use her voice. We need someone who will stand up for our children, staff and overall community. Nederland needs someone on the school board who has experience and will bring a proven and fresh face to the board. Kay purposefully waited until her children graduated from NHS before running for this position. She is a former Nederland ISD classroom teacher. Help support changes to our district. We cannot remain in the same mind set as in the past five years. Elect someone that even the University of Texas and TEA trusted to oversee some of the financial spending of districts within the Region IV and Region V areas.

Gerald and Lil Reeves
