Angels on earth

Pat Miller

Yes, there are angels here on earth. I stood there with my knuckles in my mouth and tears in my eyes watching her trying the coax Jack, my Pomeranian, from the busy street knowing that if I made a sound he would run even further away from her.

There she was perfectly coifed, with lovely makeup, in one of her finest suits, hosiery and matching heels, kneeling in wet grass from the early morning dew trying desperately to get Jack to come to her. She had hurried all the way over from Market Basket under difficult circumstances when she saw me trying to catch him.

Cars were backed up on both sides, waiting, probably running late for work while she begged Jack to come to her. A gentleman pulled into the library parking lot and ran over to help. When Jack started paying attention to that kind man is when Mrs. Bush of C.O. Wilson was able to grab hold of Jack. He probably would not be here today if not for Mrs. Bush’s loving heart and that fine man’s generous effort.

I cannot forget the image of Mrs. Bush on her knees in that dripping, wet grass, her clothes soiled, trying to help a stranger in need. Many times I had heard from my children and grandchildren how wonderful a person she is but now I have my own personal experience with this extraordinary lady. Thank you, Mrs. Bush, and thank you kind sir, for saving Jack’s life.
