George has made valuable contributions to PAISD

Volney L. Pinder

I was most happy to hear that Dr. Mary Jean George had agreed to run for a position on the school board. Dr. George served 18 years on the board in the past. Her contributions to that board were very valuable to the children of Port Arthur in many ways. She has continued to serve on many educational committees, most recently on the committee that successfully passed the bond issue.

Dr. George graduated from Lamar State College of Technology with a degree in chemistry. She has a master’s degree in bio-chemistry from UTMB and her Ph.D. is in bio-physiology. She is well qualified to again serve is on PAISD’s Board.

Dr. George and Mr. Ken Lofton are running as a team. Mr. Lofton is employed at the Port Arthur Post Office. He has three children attending Port Arthur Schools and his wife teaches at Travis Elementary School. Mr. Lofton helped organize M.I.S.T.E.R., which mentors young men and young boys.

I urge everyone to vote for these two dedicated individuals who will continue to help our board to make progress in our educational efforts. My wife and I will surely vote for both.
