Donny Broussard knows a thing or two about the restaurant business.
Broussard, 78, owner of Pizza Inn on Magnolia in Port Neches, is one of the first franchise owners in the area. In 2008, the company named him franchise of the year and his Port Neches business is honored annually for placing among the top 25 in sales nationwide.
The veteran restaurateur is a big supporter of the Sabine Area Restaurant Association, an organization that provides scholarships for students in the culinary arts or hotel management at Lamar University as well as lending a helping hand to a number of groups such as the Boy Scouts, Hospitality Center, Girls Haven, Boys Haven, Some other Place and Inspire, Encourage and Achieve.
Broussard is this year’s honoree at the annual Taste of the Triangle, which is sponsored by SARA.
Taste of the Triangle will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ford Park. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased through Ticketron or at the door.
