PA woman recovering from brutal attack; police locate victim's stolen car

PORT ARTHUR — A Port Arthur woman is recovering in a Houston hospital after she was brutally attacked during a burglary in her home late last week.

Port Arthur Police Maj. Raymond Clark said the 30-year-old woman — who was bound, beat and shot in the face — has underwent two surgeries since Friday’s attack and is in good condition at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

The incident occurred on the morning of Oct. 19 at a home in the 3100 block of Tyler Avenue. Clark said it appeared the woman walked in during a burglary in progress.

The bloodied woman was able to leave her home where she began to knock on the doors of her neighbors for help, according to police.

The woman was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Mary for triage and ultimately to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston for treatment.

During the initial investigation officers determined the victims vehicle was missing from the residence and may have been taken by the intruder. The vehicle was located on Saturday near Beaumont Avenue and 14th Street. The vehicle was recovered by police and processed for prints and potential leads to the identity of the suspect, Clark said.

Police are optimistic they will solve the case.

The incident remains under investigation by PAPD’s Major Crime Unit.
