Tips sought in robbery, assault of Nederland teen

NEDERLAND — Police in Nederland are searching for information regarding six males who assaulted and robbed a 14-year-old last week.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 in the 2900 block of Gary. The teen was riding his bicycle when he was approached by a black Chevrolet Silverado with large chrome rims. The vehicle stopped near the teen and six males got out of the truck, Nederland Assistant Police Chief Gary Porter said. One of the men struck the teen in the eye and in the back of the head before stealing an iPhone.

The suspects are described as black males wearing red bandanas, Porter said.

Persons who witnessed the incident or have information about the vehicle can call Nederland Police Department at 723-1518.
