BEAUMONT —
A nimble bank robber jumped the counter at Capital One and stole a night deposit bag from a teller Monday morning.
Beaumont Police Patrol responded to Capital One, 3775 Stagg Drive, in reference to the bank robbery at about 9:31 a.m. June 18.
Upon arrival, employees and customers told officers that a black male entered the entrance on the south side of the building, closest to College, and jumped the counter at the first window.
The teller was processing a night deposit bag and the suspect had something in his left hand, according to a press release from BPD. The suspect reportedly pointed the object in a threatening manner and demanded money. He then grabbed the night deposit bag, but did not take any other money, before fleeing the south doors.
The suspect jumped in the passenger side of a pewter or grayish colored Chevrolet pick up. The witnesses did not get a look at the driver, but said the truck was single cab and had a missing tail gate. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on College.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black hoodie that had the draw string to the hood pulled tight to conceal his face.
He was wearing sun glasses, had a beard and was wearing blue jeans and brown gloves. He is described as possible 5-foot 6-inches, 130 pounds, late 40's to early 50, skinny build. He had a possible weapon in his left hand.
