BEAUMONT —
Police say they may have found the body of a 27-year-old Warren man missing since Friday afternoon.
Stephen Dvorman was driving northbound on the service road along the Eastex Freeway when his truck left the roadway, and crashed into the LNVA canal at approximately midnight Friday night, according to witness statements provided to the Beaumont PD.
The witnesses stopped on the bridge and spoke with the driver before losing sight of him under the bridge. They heard the vehicle submerge into the water shortly after and were unable to get a response from the driver. Beaumont Fire and Rescue arrived, and first responders searched the area while some went into the water to find the vehicle. The vehicle was found but there was no sign of the driver. After an extensive search of the whole area, it was determined to suspend it until sunlight.
Beaumont PD continued the search with ATVs through Monday, when a body was located at around 12:17 p.m. in the canal, according to BPD Officer Doug Kibodeaux.
Though a positive ID has not been made yet, Kibodeaux said the body was located about a mile from the vehicle and was dressed in similar clothing to the description of the victim.
