PORT ARTHUR —
A Port Arthur man is dead after supposedly being involved in a motorcycle race Sunday night.
Port Arthur police report that at approximately 7:24 p.m. Sunday they received a call about a motorcycle wreck in the 3700 block of Third Street at Dixie Drive. Upon arrival officers learned a motorcycle had struck a brick wall in the front yard of a residence and the driver was unresponsive. EMS units also responded to the scene and determined the man was dead at the scene.
Officers spoke to witnesses who told them that there were two motorcycles racing west on Third St. when the driver of one of them lost control and struck the brick privacy fence at the home. The other motorcycle left the scene and was not located.
Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen pronounced the driver of the wrecked motorcycle dead and ordered an autopsy.
