GROVES — Educators and a group of longtime employees in Port Neches-Groves who have worked more than 32 years may see a pay increase.
Superintendent Lani Randall said there are about 25 employees, serving as teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors and speech pathologists, who are beyond the 32 year mark. Trustees will consider approval of a salary adjustment for those contract employees who exceed the maximum years reflected on the 2008-2009 hiring schedule during the 7 p.m. meeting on Tuesday at West Groves Education Center.
Randall said the current steps for salary range from zero to 32 and board members are taking a closer look at the last two steps on the scale.
Salary steps range from $100 to $1,000 but are not uniform, she added.
The superintendent will recommend a $400 step on the scale for those longtime employees.
Trustees will also hear from PN-G Athletic Director Coach Brandon Faircloth on the topic of beginning a University Interscholastic League swimming program.
Randall said a number of interested parents who would like to see the program initiated have approached the district regarding the program.
The district does not have a pool for the students to practice or compete in but the interested students receive private lessons, she said, and would like to participate in UIL.
Other agenda items include:
• Approval of 2010-2011 school calendar
• Approval of joint election with the city of Port Neches
• Approval of personnel recommendations
• Approval of transactions that cost $25,000 or more
• Approval of Port Neches-Groves High School allowance expenditure authorization No. 17
• Report from the superintendent regarding a change in state testing
• Approval of administrators’ contract extensions/renewals
