GROVES —
There will be some chic babies and kids in Groves pretty soon.
Candice Harrison and her mother, Ginger Harrison, recently expanded their business to include BabyChic inside Maison de Ami, 443 Lincoln Ave., in Groves.
The mother-daughter duo opened Fleur de Chic, 2222 McArthur Drive, in Orange in 2010.
“We decided we wanted a second location for BabyChic and looked here for six months,” Candice Harrison said during a ribbon cutting on Friday. “We knew we wanted to be on Lincoln Avenue and one day we were shopping at Hannah Bay’s,... and now we’re here.”
Members of the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center brought along their scissors and green ribbon for the ribbon cutting and took time to look around the newly opened business.
Candice Harrison said the store has items for newborn to size 12 and a wide array of vintage inspired toys. The store also has a baby registry and says she can get items cheaper than other stores.
Harrison strives to sell locally made products as well as be environmentally by texting or emailing receipts. Designer crosses are created by a 19-year-old college student from the area that uses the proceeds from the sales to fund college, a Port Neches woman creates “diaper cakes” and wreaths while her 74-year-old mother creates “ribbon dresses.”
“Plus we have 200 more pieces of clothing scheduled to come in this afternoon (Friday),” she said.
Ginger Harrison said there are plans for a mom’s corner that will feature such items as T-shirts with the words “The real mommies of Mid-County.”
