Fort Worth teens green up Port Arthur

When Essie Fisk arrived at her new West Ninth Street home Thursday morning with her son, Zackary, the two stepped out of their car to a flurry of activity.

What had been a barren lawn was suddenly scattered with shovels and rakes, pallets of colorful flowers, dirt and grass.

But, it was the eager faces of young junior high and high school students that brought a smile to the 79-year-old Port Arthur woman’s face.

“Seeing them makes me feel young, and I hope that God will bless these young people for what they are doing here,” Fisk said.

The junior high and high school-age young people from The Hills Church of Christ in Fort Worth were in Port Arthur this week as the first stop on a summer filled with mission work.
