A man riding a bicycle in Port Arthur died Thursday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle according to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department.
A 72-year-old man from Port Arthur was riding a bicycle in the 5300 block of Gulfway Drive at approximately 2 p.m. when a car traveling in the west bound lane struck him. The man died at the scene. The occupants of the vehicle received only minor injuries. The name of the victim is not currently being released pending notification of next of kin.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the incident.

“A person does not change their character overnight,” said Veazey, a retired Port Arthur Independent School District teacher. “We do not accept that she just walked into a room and started beating on a kid. Her students are her life. She wouldn’t do that.”
