PORT ARTHUR — Four recent armed robberies — two at pizza restaurants and two at discount stores— may be related.
Port Arthur Police Sgt. Scott Gaspard said police are looking into leads to see if the four armed robberies are connected.
The first of the four incidents occurred about 4 p.m. Feb. 21, at Dollar General in the 2300 block of Gulfway Drive.
The suspect, described as a white male, about six feet tall with a thin build, entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded money.
The gunman left with an undetermined amount of cash and receipts. Police say there are several witnesses and no one was injured.
Almost a week later, on Feb. 28, Little Caesar’s restaurant, 2517 Jefferson Drive, was robbed at gunpoint. A man walked into the restaurant with a handgun and demanded money. He took cash from the register and fled on foot. No one was injured.
A description of the suspect was not provided.
Pizza Hut on Twin City Highway was robbed at gunpoint about 10:43 p.m. March 6.
Witnesses told officers a black male with a bandana over his face entered through the back door of the business and demanded money after pointing a pistol at the employees. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
No one was injured in the robbery.
Less than 24 hours later, at 1:43 p.m. March 7, a white male entered Dollar General on Twin City Highway, displayed a small handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect left with less than $100 cash.
The suspect was described as wearing a gray sweatshirt and black ski mask. The male fled the scene in a maroon full size Ford pickup. Officers are investigating the incident and searching for the suspect.
