NEDERLAND —
Neighbors on a tree lined street filled with brick homes in Nederland were able to alert a man that his home was on fire on Thursday.
The homeowner and his dog were able to escape unharmed during the house fire that occurred about 11:12 a.m. May 18 at a home in the 3100 block of Nashville.
Nederland Fire Chief Gary Collins said upon arrival heavy smoke was showing from the roof vents of the home and it appeared the fire was contained to the attic. Firefighters opened an area in the kitchen and were able to extinguish the blaze.
“The homeowner was unaware of the fire until a neighbor told him that smoke was coming out of the attic vents,” Collins said.
Firefighters from Nederland Fire Department and Nederland Volunteer Fire Department were assisted via automatic aid by Port Neches and Groves fire departments.
