BEAUMONT —
A two-vehicle crash on West Port Arthur Road south of Beaumont Thursday morning left one man dead while the driver of a Mack Truck walked away uninjured.
Ronald Dwayne Thomas, 63, of Borger, was traveling northbound at about 7 a.m. on West Port Arthur Road and struck the rear of the Mack truck facing northbound on West Port Arthur Road waiting to make a legal left turn.
Thomas was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital were he died from his injuries at 7:56 a.m. Thomas was pronounced dead by Dr. Stafford. The driver of the Mack truck, Elroy Huggins of Beaumont, was not injured.
The investigation is still in the preliminary stage and it is unknown if Ronald Thomas was wearing a seatbelt. Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
