BEAUMONT —
An army truck with the letters “last vehicle out of Iraq” written in chalk on its side disembarked at the Port of Beaumont on Monday, marking a historic final homecoming of nearly 4 million pieces of military equipment from Iraq.
The same vehicle, a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected or MRAP, took the international spotlight last December as people all over the world celebrated it as a symbol of the official US exit of the from Iraq.
“This one is the last MRAP to pass from Iraq into Kuwait and it is the last to hit American soil,” said Rick Sims, deputy director for Public Affairs for the US Army Materiel Command, during the official Army ceremony on Monday at the Port of Beaumont
