NEDERLAND —
If ever Vietnamese exchange student Quynh Ho had trouble communicating with her host Joyce Bourgeois during her nine month exchange program in Port Neches, the two artists from distant cultures could always communicate through making pottery.
In the final months of the program, Bourgeois asked her south Asian friend to pose — for two hours, once a week — as she sculpts a full size bust of the girl.
“The hardest thing has been to keep her from smiling,” said Bourgeois. “Now I have a beautiful mouth to remember her by.”
