A 7-year-old locally-owned real estate business will officially merge with a national corporation today.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in front of Blount Properties, sealing the company’s transition as a member of Keller Williams Realty.
The merger has been in the works since April, when the owner of Blount Properties, Ronnie Blount, discussed the possibility with Kathy Cleveland, who is the owner and broker for all Keller Williams territories in Jefferson, Orange and Hardin county.
“Ronnie Blount has a wonderful reputation in that area,” Cleveland said. “It's really not that I bought him out, it's more of a merger. He joined me. He saw what Keller Williams was and came in as an independent.”
Blount started his company after leaving a real estate partnership in 2003. He said it was his decision to join Keller Williams, and he did so partly because he wanted to simplify his life.
“I’m getting close to retirement age,” he said. “I wanted to be in a position where I was working with people and didn’t have to worry about running an office. It’s hard to do both.”
