PORT NECHES —
An early morning traffic stop in Port Neches led to the discovery of methamphetamines, prescription pills, guns and money on Tuesday.
A Port Neches Police officer stopped the vehicle at about 1:45 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 3000 block of Nall Street. A second officer was called in to assist and a search was conducted.
Officers recovered a .40 caliber Glock handgun and a 9mm Ruger handgun as well as a glass pipe with meth residue, numerous small plastic baggies commonly used to traffic meth, several unused syringes, a plastic baggie that contained crystal methamphetamine, several loose prescription pulls and approximately $1,600 in currency that was reportedly bundled in a fashion indicative of narcotics trafficking, according to Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine. The money was seized pending an affidavit for seizure.
The driver, a 36-year-old person from Port Arthur, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (meth) and charges pending for unlawfully carrying and possession of controlled substance (pills).
Charges against the 23-year-old passenger who is from Nederland are pending for violation of protective order for possession of a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing, Lemoine said.
