PORT ARTHUR —
Police in Port Arthur are searching for a person who bound, beat and shot a woman and stole her vehicle Friday morning.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 3100 block of Tyler Avenue in reference to a bloody woman beating on a door. It was first assumed the woman was an assault victim. Police soon determined that a 30-year-old Hispanic woman had been victim to an intruder at her home a few houses away and had been assaulted.
The victim had apparently been bound and sustained trauma from a gunshot and other injuries from the assault, according to a press release from Port Arthur Police Sgt. C. Segler.
During the initial investigation officers determined the victims vehicle was missing from the residence and may have been taken by the intruder. It is currently unknown if the victim was acquainted with the intruder.
The woman was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Mary for triage and ultimately to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston for treatment.
The incident remains under investigation by PAPD’s Major Crime Unit.
