BEAUMONT —
Foul play has been ruled out in the death of man whose body was found in a burning dumpster Tuesday.
Police in Beaumont have not released the name of the victim but the person has been identified as a 58-year-old male, according to a press release from Beaumont Police Department.
Preliminary autopsy results show the cause of death appears to be smoke inhalation and the manner of death as accidental. The cause of the fire also appears to e accidental. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Beaumont Fire Rescue responding to a dumpster fire made the gruesome discovery in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
Crews were on scene at about 2:16 a.m. Feb. 26 at 550 W. Cardinal Drive and when firefighters extinguished the fire they found a body in the dumpster.
The business was closed at the time of the fire and the fire was reported by a neighbor.
The body was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy. There was no identification of the victim Tuesday afternoon. The dumpster was transported to the Jefferson County Crime Lab for technicians to check the contents.
