Jimmy Simmons, president of Lamar University, is expected to discuss his retirement Friday morning at 10 a.m. during a meeting held for faculty and staff of the campus. Sources report that Simmons plans to retire on January 31, 2012.
Named president of the university in 1999, Simmons was a professor at Lamar as well as dean of the music department.
