GROVES —
Applications for entry in the Annual Texas Pecan Festival Scholarship Pageant have been flooding in to the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center.
But take heed, the absolute deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. No late entries will be accepted.
There are six categories in the pageant and one of those categories — Little Miss — is already at maximum participation of 20 entries, according to information from the Chamber.
Once the category is filled no more applications will be accepted. The categories are Little Miss, ages 3-5; Duchess, ages 6-8; Countess, ages 9-10; Junior Miss, ages 11-12; Princess, 7th – 9th grade; Queen, 10th – 12th grade.
The pageant is open to girls age 3 years of age to 12th grade that live in Groves. Applications must be returned completed with registration fees by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18 to the Chamber office.
For more information, call the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center at 962-3631. The pageant will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Port Neches-Groves High School Auditorium.
The Texas Pecan Festival will be held in Groves from Sept. 20-23.
