PA not ready to release city manager candidates names

— Port Arthur’s search for a new city manager continued Monday, but was cut short when two City Council members left early.

About two hours into the Monday morning executive session Council members Morris Albright III, District 3; and Robert E. “Bob” Williamson, District 6; had to leave prior to its conclusion because of previous engagements. Their departure resulted in the lack of a quorum.

City Council has not yet designated the candidates as finalists, but has said the four were whittled down from a field of about 15. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, The Port Arthur News submitted an open records request for a complete list of candidates, but the city has not yet provided that list.

City Attorney Val Tizeno said Monday afternoon that the city had placed a call to  The Mercer Group, the management firm hired to assist with the manager search, with the intent of requesting the candidate’s identities.
