PORT ARTHUR —
Two individuals have been charged with arson in two separate fires in the city of Port Arthur, according to a press release from Assistant Fire Marshal Paul Washburn.
Brittani Sewell has been charged with arson and is in custody for an incident that allegedly occurred on June 14 at a residence located at 3248 13th St.
A second warrant, unrelated to the first case, has been issued for Euphemia Moreno. Moreno is still at large and is from Weslaco, Texas. The warrant issued alleges that Moreno allegedly set fire to a mobile home at the Home on the Range trailer park located at 5320 Gulfway Drive on June 9 after a dispute she was having with her boyfriend.
The charge of arson is a second degree felony except in cases involving a place of worship or a habitation. In cases involving a place of worship or a habitation the penalty is enhanced to a first degree felony which can carry a penalty of 5 to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
The Port Arthur Fire Department asks that anyone having information on an intentionally set fire, within the city of Port Arthur, to please call the Arson Hotline at 409-983-8715. You could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
