LEESVILLE, La. (AP) — A Beaumont man was among three people killed in a single vehicle accident in Vernon Parish.
State police says the crash occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday on La. Highway 465. It involved an SUV driven by 67-year-old Hullett E. Sumlin of Leesville.
Troopers say Sumlin was traveling south when he ran off the roadway and hit a large tree.
Sumlin and his two passengers, 46-year-old James E. Walling, of Beaumont, Texas, and 41-year-old Richard L. Walling, of Humble, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation and routine toxicology tests are pending.
