BEAUMONT — Some folks call it “Black Friday,” some associate it with college football rivalries, and some are still recovering from overeating the day before. But the members of Longneck Road are looking especially forward to the Friday After Thanksgiving this year, because Nov. 27, is the date of Longneck Road’s CD release party for its debut album, “Texas Rock”.
“We’re very excited about our album,” said Dick LeMasters, songwriter and singer for the band. “Not only have we had good sales over the internet on CD Baby, but we’re getting a lot of plays on Radio Free Texas, and our song “The Way You Walk” is in the rotation on the Texas Connection radio show.”
Longneck Road recently played its biggest show to date, at the “Hats Off To Industry” event in November at the Texas Rice Festival Grounds, where the band opened in front of a packed house of about 2,500 for The Charlie Daniels Band. “We had a great time, and the energy we felt from the large crowd really spurred us on to give what we feel was our best performance ever,” said Ron Arceneaux, bassist for Longneck Road.
The band members are excited to hold their CD Release party at The Pacesetter Lounge. “The Pacesetter Lounge is quickly becoming one of the showcase venues for Texas Music artists,” said Robert Arena, Longneck Road’s drummer. In recent months, The Pacesetter Lounge and Radio Free Texas have teamed up to bring a variety of Texas Country shows to the area.
As reflected by the name of Longneck Road’s album, “Texas Rock,” the band’s music is not standard or traditional country. “We chose the name “Texas Rock” because although a lot of our music has that Texas Country feel, it leans a little more towards rock,” said Miles Sykes, lead guitar player for the band.
