Melissa Myers benefit
Friends and family of Melissa Myers are cooking up concerts, an auction and a party to benefit her expenses from breast cancer.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. at the United Steel Workers Union Hall, Port Neches Avenue at 8th Street, Port Neches.
A live auction for a trip for two to Las Vegas will be part of the fun. Robert Frith will play from 1 to 3 p.m. and C.J. Johnson will play from 3 to 5 p.m.
Lamar Civic Orchestra opens second season
Music is in the air. The Lamar Civic Orchestra’s second season opens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, with works by Herold, Britten, Respighi and Grainger. The free concert will be in the Lamar University Setzer Student Center Ballroom on the Beaumont campus off Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
