Laugh-out-Loud comedy invokes spirits 90s TV show

Before becoming a playwright, Jamie Wooten, a member of America’s most successful playwright team Jones Hope Wooten, produced 62 episodes of the TV show “Golden Girls.”

“The Dixie Swim Club,” a Jones Hope Wooten play which opens this week at the Courtyard Cafe in Groves, chronicles the lives of five women from a college swim team who meet once a year to spill out their lives in a cottage in North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

By no coincidence, the characters of “Swim Club” bear a strong resemblance to Dorthy, Rose, Sophia and Blanche.
