The investigation is continuing into the death of a 4-year-old after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a child not breathing at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday. Members of the Labelle-Fannett VFD, Hamshire VFD and Acadian Ambulance Service were immediately dispatched to the 11300 block of Wiggins Road in Fannett, a press release from the Sheriff’s Department said.
Efforts to revive the child were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson. The investigation continues pending the autopsy results.
