BEAUMONT —
Police in Beaumont are investigating a double homicide that occurred in the early morning hours Wednesday.
Patrol division officers, responding a call of shots fired in the 2500 block of Campbell at about 3:59 a.m. Feb. 15, found a white male deceased and a white female mortally wounded inside a vehicle that was in the driveway of 2530 Campbell.
Officers immediately summoned Beaumont EMS but the female died before paramedics could arrive at the scene. Both victims appeared to have suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
Patrol Officers secured the scene and begin to immediately search for witnesses. K-9 Officers responded to the scene and performed a lengthy track in the hopes of locating a possible suspect but their efforts were unsuccessful, according to a press release from Beaumont Police Department.
Detectives from Criminal Investigation Division responded to conduct the investigation and Crime Scene Technicians responded to process the crime scene.
The two victims were transported to the Jefferson County Morgue awaiting an autopsy ordered by Judge Kenneth Dollinger.
Detectives have been able to identify the female victim but her name is not being released pending notification of her next of kin. Detectives are still working to identify the male victim as of Wednesday afternoon.
Police are working the case as a capital murder. These are the first murders to occur in Beaumont this year.
