A person driving the wrong way onto Texas 73 led to a head-on collision that sent two people to area hospitals on Friday.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis said the incident occurred about 11 a.m. March 1. A 70-year-old female from Port Neches driving a 2000 Chrysler reportedly drove up the FM 366 exit onto Texas 73 where she collided with a 1993 Ford F-150 truck driven by a 42-year-old Buna man.
After the collision the Chrysler ended up in the grass median and the truck flipped, she said. Both drivers were trapped in their respective vehicles and the Jaws of Life were used to release them.
The driver of the car was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Mary and is listed in serious condition. The driver of the truck was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont and is listed in serious condition.
The driver of the car will later be cited for the incident.
